India's Got Latent Controversial Video: Guwahati Police Books Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia, Others

Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced on 'X' that Guwahati Police have filed an FIR against several well-known YouTubers and social media influencers. They are accused of promoting obscenity and engaging in explicit discussions on a show called India's Got Latent. The list of accused includes Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, Ashish Chanchlani, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Samay Raina.

The FIR was lodged by the Guwahati Crime Branch under Cyber PS case no. 03/2025. It cites multiple charges under Sections 79, 95, 294, and 296 of the BNS 2023. Additionally, it includes violations of Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Provisions from the Cinematograph Act, 1952, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 are also mentioned.

Content Concerns

The FIR is based on content from India's Got Latent show. Authorities claim it contained vulgar and sexually explicit discussions that could be offensive to viewers. The investigation is ongoing as Guwahati Police delve deeper into the matter.

This action comes amid growing concerns about content shared by social media personalities. Authorities stress the importance of responsible digital content creation to prevent inappropriate material from reaching audiences.

Additional Complaints

Rahul Easwar has filed a complaint seeking an FIR under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Information Technology Act against these YouTubers. He accuses them of promoting explicit content on public platforms without age restrictions.

In a similar vein, BJP functionary Nilotpal Mrinal Pandey submitted a complaint to Khar police in Mumbai. He provided a video on a pen drive along with a written complaint as evidence.

Legal Actions Sought

Advocates Ashish Ray and Pankaj Mishra have approached Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phalsankar and the state women's commission. They argue that remarks made on the show disrespect women and warrant legal action.
