Important To Know Boundaries: Malavika Mohanan On Her Steamy Scenes In 'Yudhra'

Malavika Mohanan has opened up about the importance of maintaining boundaries while filming intimate scenes in movies. The actress, who has drawn significant attention for her steamy scenes in the upcoming Hindi film Yudhra, spoke candidly about the complexities of performing such moments on set.

In an interview with News18, she said, "It's not easy to crack intimacy and be comfortable with it. Nowadays, they have intimacy coordinators on set, which is a very good thing. It's important to know boundaries. The process of intimacy isn't as simple as just doing it. Coordinators are making it easier."

The trailer for Yudhra has generated buzz, particularly for the sizzling chemistry between Malavika and her co-star Siddhant Chaturvedi. The song Saathiya, released earlier this month, offers a glimpse of their intense on-screen romance, set against the stunning backdrop of the ocean.

However, Malavika revealed that the real challenge while filming the intimate scenes in Saathiya was the harsh weather conditions. She recalled, "More than the intimacy, what we were concerned about was the cold while shooting for the song. We were against the waves, completely drenched, and it was freezing! The last thing on our minds was kissing."

Laughing, she shared how the experience was far from romantic in reality: "When we were close to each other, we were like, 'Are we done? It's so cold!' Most of the behind-the-scenes moments of kissing are goofy and funny. It's also very technical-you have to be aware of the angles. It's a lot about give and take and being sensitive to each other in that moment."

Despite the challenges, Yudhra, which marks her Bollywood debut, holds a special place in Malavika's heart. She fondly remembers filming Saathiya and living her Bollywood dream. "The video of Saathiya is so quintessentially Bollywood. It has a beach, larger-than-life romance, and slow-motion shots. I was in a bikini and sarong, and he was in an open white shirt, running towards each other. I've grown up watching my favorite actors and actresses romance in a similar fashion. That was an overwhelming moment," she smiled.

Malavika's honesty about the realities of filming intimate scenes and her love for Bollywood nostalgia make her role in Yudhra all the more special for her.
