Fish Venkat Death: Who Was Telugu Actor Venkat Raj?
Venkat Raj, known in the film industry as Fish Venkat, passed away on Friday night (July 18) due to multi-organ failure. He was recently admitted to a hospital due to severe kidney issues.
His condition deteriorated, leading to kidney failure, and he is currently in the ICU awaiting a kidney transplant. He was aged 52.

Fish Venkat made a name for himself in Telugu cinema with his comedic and villainous roles. His unique Telangana dialect earned him the nickname "Fish." He had appeared in numerous successful films such as Bunny, Adhurs, Dhee, and Mirapakay.
Financial Assistance Controversy
Earlier this month, Venkat's daughter Sravanthi mentioned in an interview that Prabhas' team had offered financial help. She stated, "Daddy isn't well at all. He is very serious and in the ICU. He needs a kidney transplant. It will cost us at least ₹50 lakh. Prabhas' assistant called us and offered financial assistance. They asked us to inform them when his transplant happens to cover the cost."
However, the family later clarified to Suman TV that this call was not genuine. A family member explained that they received a call from someone pretending to be Prabhas' assistant but later discovered it was fake. They have not received any financial aid yet.
Career Highlights
Fish Venkat began his acting journey in the early 1990s with small roles, debuting in Kshana Kshanam (1991). Over time, he gained recognition for his comedic sidekick roles in films like Khushi (2001), Aadi (2002), and Gabbar Singh (2012).
He has been part of over 100 Telugu films throughout his career spanning more than three decades. Some notable movies include Gabbar Singh (2012), Brindaavanam (2010), Subramanyam for Sale (2015), and Khaidi No. 150 (2017).
Early Life
Born in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Fish Venkat grew up in Hyderabad, Telangana. Coming from a modest background and belonging to the Ganga Putrudu community, he initially worked as a fishmonger at Musheerabad Market.
His distinct Telangana accent reminiscent of fishermen led to his nickname "Fish Venkat." This unique trait became one of his defining characteristics in the film industry.
Recently, he appeared in the Aha thriller Coffee with a Killer and during the Covid-19 pandemic starred alongside Siddhu Jonnalagadda in Maa Vintha Gaadha Vinuma and DJ Tillu, earning praise for his performances.
The situation surrounding Fish Venkat's health remains critical as he awaits a kidney transplant while his family continues to seek genuine support for medical expenses.
