Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release Update: The box office run of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge shows no signs of slowing down, with the Ranveer Singh starrer continuing to draw audiences well into its third week.

On Day 20, the high-octane spy thriller added a solid ₹10.10 crore net from over 13,500 shows nationwide-an impressive feat for a film already deep into its theatrical journey. This takes its India gross to a staggering ₹1,237.21 crore, while the net collection stands at ₹1,033.37 crore. Overseas, the film brought in another ₹4 crore on the same day, pushing its international tally to ₹404 crore. Combined, the worldwide gross now stands at a phenomenal ₹1,641.21 crore, cementing its place among the biggest blockbusters in recent times, according to Sacnilk data.

Despite its roaring success in cinemas, a growing section of viewers is choosing patience over popcorn. Many fans are holding out for the film's digital premiere, reflecting a broader shift in viewing habits where OTT releases have become nearly as anticipated as theatrical debuts.

However, unlike several South Indian films-which often arrive on streaming platforms within a month-Hindi releases typically adhere to a longer window. Industry agreements with multiplex chains mandate an eight-week theatrical exclusivity, ensuring that big-ticket films maximise their cinema revenues before moving online.

This timeline had led fans to expect a mid-May streaming debut, given the film's theatrical release on March 19. Yet, fresh developments suggest that audiences may have to wait a little longer than anticipated.

The reason lies less in the film's performance and more in strategic timing. The digital rights for Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge are held by JioHotstar, the merged platform of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. With one of India's biggest sporting spectacles underway, the platform appears keen to avoid splitting audience attention.

The Indian Premier League 2026, which began in late March, is set to culminate in a grand finale at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Given the tournament's massive viewership, it makes strategic sense for the platform to reserve its major film releases for a less crowded window.

Behind the scenes, the film's digital journey has been equally noteworthy. Produced by Jio Studios in collaboration with B62 Studios, the sequel's streaming rights were reportedly sold to JioHotstar for around ₹150 crore. Interestingly, this deal is seen as an internal transaction within the Reliance ecosystem, allowing Jio Studios to book revenue while strengthening JioHotstar's content library.

The deal also highlights the franchise's growing value. The first instalment had secured a streaming deal with Netflix for ₹85 crore. For the sequel, however, Jio Studios reportedly turned down a bundled offer from Netflix worth ₹175 crore for both films, opting instead for a more lucrative and strategically aligned arrangement within its own network.

Some industry reports even suggest that a broader television and digital package-potentially involving JioStar-could be valued at up to ₹200 crore, underlining the film's massive commercial pull across platforms.

All signs now point to a slightly delayed digital rollout, with the film expected to arrive on streaming platforms only after the cricketing frenzy subsides. For fans eagerly waiting to watch it from the comfort of their homes, the wait may stretch into early June-though, given the film's continued dominance at the box office, the delay might only add to the anticipation.
