Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release Update: Will It Be Streamed On Jio Hotstar Or Netflix? Confusion Cleared

For weeks, speculations has been doing around the digital premiere of the blockbuster action thriller Dhurandhar 2 (also titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge). Fans eager to stream the film at home have been met with conflicting rumours, particularly regarding a potential delay due to the ongoing IPL season.

However, new developments have now put an end to the uncertainty. Contrary to earlier speculation, the film's OTT release will not be postponed until the conclusion of the cricket tournament. In fact, reliable Dhurandhar 2 will begin streaming as early as next week.

Crucial details regarding the release plans have emerged unexpectedly, thanks to a court case filed in connection with the film. During the hearing, key information was disclosed that has since clarified the film's digital roadmap.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, Super Cassettes, which owns the audio and music rights to Dhurandhar 2, opposed the petitioner's request for interim relief during the court hearing.

The makers informed the court that the movie has completed its theatrical run and unlikely to be available in the till May 14. This timeframe adheres to the standard industry norm of an eight-to-ten-week window between a film's cinema release and its arrival on streaming services.

Dhurandhar 2 is set to complete exactly eight weeks in theatres on May 14. The film originally released on March 19 and has since emerged as a colossal box office success, amassing total collections of ₹1,365.38 crore, with India net figures standing at ₹1,140.82 crore.

As for the streaming platforms, earlier reports had created significant confusion. It was widely rumoured that JioHotstar would stream the second instalment, given that the first Dhurandhar film had been bagged by Netflix. The latest updates now confirm that both platforms will, in fact, host the film - though for different audiences and on different dates.

Dhurandhar Raw & Undekha will be available on Netflix starting May 14, but this version is exclusively for international viewers. For Indian audiences, JioHotstar will stream the film a day later, on May 15.

Technically, the film will be presented in 4K Dolby 5.1. There is, so far, no indication of HDR, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos sound. The runtime is expected to be an extended cut of approximately three hours and 52 minutes. The film will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and several other languages.

However, the makers are yet to announce the digital release date.
