'Devara' Worldwide Box Office Collection: Jr NTR-Starrer Becomes Second-Highest Grossing Film Globally

Koratala Siva's Telugu film 'Devara Part 1' has had an impressive start at the global box office, with a strong performance both in India and internationally.

Starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan, the action film achieved one of the highest opening day collections in Indian cinema history and maintained its momentum throughout the opening weekend.

Devara 2nd-Highest Grossing Film

According to Comscore, 'Devara Part 1' ranked second among the highest-grossing films worldwide over the weekend.

Released on September 27, the makers of 'Devara' reported a massive Rs 172 crore opening day worldwide. By the end of its first weekend, the film grossed $32.93 million (Rs 275 crore) globally, placing it just behind The Wild Robot ($44 million) and ahead of Hollywood releases like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice ($29 million) and Transformers One ($25 million).

It's important to note that while 'Devara' had the advantage of a fresh release, these Hollywood films had already been running for some time, leading to lower weekend earnings.

Domestically, 'Devara' also performed well. Although exact earnings differ due to India's less transparent box office tracking system, the film's success is undeniable.

While the filmmakers suggest it is on track to cross Rs 300 crore globally and Rs 200 crore in India, industry sources like Sacnilk and Comscore offer more conservative estimates.

According to Sacnilk, Devara earned Rs 161 crore net in India during its opening weekend, with a 5% increase in collections on Sunday, grossing Rs 40 crore. The film's true test will come as weekday collections start to dip.
