Coolie Advance Booking: Rajini's Film Mints Rs 40 Crore WW As Presales Begin In Kerala, Tamil Nadu

Rajinikanth's Coolie has sent South Indian cinema into a ticket-buying frenzy as advance bookings opened in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat on Friday. Within minutes of going live on platforms like BookMyShow and TicketNew, prime shows were sold out, reflecting the sky-high anticipation for Lokesh Kanagaraj's big-budget entertainer.

Reservation of Tickets Begin

In Tamil Nadu alone, pre-sales kicked off for 1,100 shows on release day (August 14), with 136 shows selling out almost instantly. Iconic multiplexes like Mayajaal are dedicating nearly all their screens to the film to meet demand. "The craze is unlike anything we've seen in recent years. Theatre owners are going all out to capitalise on it," said trade analyst Trinath.

Kerala is witnessing a similar storm - bookings opened for 1,500 shows, with tickets flying off counters in major cities like Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, and Kollam. Early estimates suggest Coolie has already raked in around ₹2 crore from advance sales in Tamil Nadu and over ₹4 crore in Kerala. Chennai alone contributed ₹60 lakh, while Coimbatore clocked ₹15 lakh in pre-release revenue.

Rajini Mania In Overseas Centres

The overseas market is proving equally explosive. In North America, Coolie's premiere pre-sales have already crossed $1.5 million - just shy of overtaking Rajinikanth's own Kabali record of $1.92 million for the biggest Tamil premiere in the region. The film is also showing strong trends in the UK, UAE, Malaysia, and Australia.

However, Coolie is clashing with Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR-starrer War 2, which also releases on August 14. Despite this, Rajinikanth's film is currently leading in overseas pre-sales. Analysts are now watching to see if Coolie can shatter the opening-day record of Vijay's Leo's which had minted ₹143 crore.

The early estimation from the trade indicates that Coolie has earned close to Rs 40 crore worldwide from the pre-sales. With the advance booking commencing in Bengaluru on Saturday, the presales business is expected to be a talk of the town for the next few days.
