Coolie 11 Days Box Office Collection: From Chennai to Coimbatore, Rajinikanth-Starrer Dominates Screens

Rajinikanth's Coolie has wrapped up its second weekend on a strong note, reaffirming its dominance at the box office despite facing the usual mid-week drops. The film, which opened on August 14, has now collected an estimated ₹256.75 crore net in India across 11 days, with Tamil Nadu continuing to drive the bulk of its earnings.

Strong Hold on Second Weekend

After a thunderous start with ₹65 crore on opening day, Coolie saw predictable declines during weekdays but bounced back over the second weekend. On its 11th day (Sunday, August 24), the film is estimated to have collected ₹10.75 crore net across all languages. This came on the back of an encouraging 38.07% occupancy in Tamil Nadu, a clear indication that the Rajinikanth starrer continues to draw audiences, especially during evening and night shows.

The day-wise trend shows how the movie has stabilized. After making ₹5.85 crore on Friday (Day 9), the numbers shot up to ₹10.5 crore on Saturday (Day 10) and further inched higher on Sunday. Such consistency over the second weekend suggests that word-of-mouth is helping the film maintain momentum beyond its initial hype.

Coolie 2nd Sunday Performance

A closer look at regional occupancy patterns reveals the film's stronghold in core Tamil-speaking belts. Cities like Chennai (51% overall occupancy) and Trichy (58.75%) led the charts on Sunday, showing robust evening and night show turnouts. Coimbatore (39.25%) and Dindigul (44.5%) also registered healthy numbers.

However, Coolie has struggled outside its home turf. In Kochi (16%) and Trivandrum (7.5%), the film's presence remained muted. Even in metros like Mumbai (16.25%) and the NCR (19.25%), the movie saw only modest traction, indicating that the non-Tamil versions, particularly Hindi and Kannada, are contributing far less compared to the Tamil and Telugu releases.

Language-Wise Contributions

By the end of the first week, the Tamil version alone contributed nearly ₹150 crore, while Telugu fetched ₹51.6 crore and Hindi ₹26.05 crore. The Kannada version, meanwhile, remained negligible at just over ₹2 crore. The trend has largely continued in the second weekend, with Tamil Nadu driving collections, followed by steady support from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Box Office Outlook

With ₹256.75 crore net in India in just 11 days, Coolie has firmly cemented itself as one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of 2025. Despite a sharp decline post its opening weekend, the second-weekend surge has given it the cushion to aim for the ₹300 crore club domestically, provided it holds decently over the weekdays ahead.

The film's global gross is also expected to be significantly higher, with overseas markets like the US, UAE, and Malaysia contributing well to Rajinikanth's appeal. For now, the domestic numbers underline the superstar's unshakable box office power-even in a year crowded with big releases.
