Bollywood Actress Nargis Fakhri’s Sister Arrested In Connection With Murder Case
Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri is in the news, not for her films, but due to a family tragedy. Her sister, Aliya Fakhri, has been arrested in Queens, New York. Aliya is accused of setting a garage on fire, resulting in the deaths of Edward Jacobs and Anastasia Ettienne. The incident is believed to have been driven by jealousy.
Reports indicate that Aliya trapped the victims inside the burning garage. They succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. District Attorney Melinda Katz described the act as "malicious," stating, "This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped a man and woman in a raging inferno."

Family's Reaction
Nargis Fakhri's mother has come forward to defend Aliya amidst these allegations. She expressed disbelief over her daughter's involvement, saying, "I don't think she would be killing someone. She was a person who was caring for everybody. She tried to help everybody." Nargis herself has not yet commented publicly on the situation.
The family also disclosed that Aliya had struggled with opioid addiction after a dental issue. This addiction might have influenced her actions leading up to the tragic event.
Witness Account and Relationship Dynamics
A witness at the scene recounted a harrowing experience. They mentioned smelling something sweet burning before seeing flames on the stairs' couch. "We ran out, and the couch on the stairs was on fire, and we had to jump over it to get out," they said. The witness added that Aliya had previously threatened Jacobs and their relationship was abusive.
Edward Jacobs was a 35-year-old plumber working on converting the garage into an apartment when he died. His mother stated that he and Aliya had ended their romantic relationship about a year ago, but Aliya allegedly continued pursuing him.
Details of Victims
Anastasia Ettienne, who perished alongside Jacobs, was reportedly just a friend and not romantically involved with him. The community remains shocked by this tragic incident that claimed two lives.
Aliya Fakhri has been denied bail following her arraignment in Queens Criminal Court as investigations continue into this devastating case.
