Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad In Kalyan Ram's Film

Kalyan Ram is back with his latest movie Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi which saw the light of the day on Friday. He has teamed up with director Pradeep Chilukuri of Raja Cheyyi Vesthe fame.

The movie has Bollywood actor Sohail Khan and Lady Amitabh Vijayashanti in key roles. Saiee Manjrekar, BS Avinash, Srikanth, Sriram Reddy Polasane, Sundip Ved, Charan Raj, Satish Saripali and others are in the cast.

The Telugu movie has Ajaneesh Loknath's music, C Ram Prasad's cinematography and Tammiraju's editing.

Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi Story

The story of the movie revolves around Arjun Vishwanath (Kalyan Ram) and his mother Vyjayanthi (Vijayashanti). She wants him to become an IPS officer like him. But the fate has a different plan. When everything was going as per the plan, an unpredictable situation forces them to separate.

Vyjayanthi ends all connection with her and Arjun becomes a criminal. Then Pathaan (Sohail Khan) enters the scene. What is his connection with Arjun and why he wants to eliminate Vyjayanthi? What triggered Arjun to become a criminal? Answers to these questions form the crux of the story.

It is a routine commerical entertainer which has been executed well. The emotional could have been handled better. However, the action scenes have been well-choreographed.

Ram Venkat Srikar: ARJUN S/O VYJAYANTHI: There is exactly one impactful moment in the climax-the kind we definitely won't see in a commercial mass film like this-that clearly explains what excited the team to make this film. They were banking entirely on it and I did like that moment, but apart from that, there were hardly two instances in a 144-minute film where the intended 'mass' factor gave me a high. Once again, hard to take the stakes seriously because of unconvincing reasoning. The over-the-top dialogues were major turn-off for me. "Been there, seen that" feels overall, but definitely not unwatchable.

Venky Reviews: #ArjunSonOfVyjayanthi is a template commercial action film that has the same routine treatment we've seen in many movies till the climax portion.

The film is watchable at times but the outdated and predictable screenplay hamper the flow. The director banks heavily on the climax portion which stands out for its novelty and shock factor. Kalyan Ram definitely deserves praise for attempting it.

However, when the rest of the film has a beaten to death treatment style, it's hard to make up for it with the climax alone. Music could've been better. Not a bad watch but the age old treatment caps the film at being just an ok watch.

#ArjunSonOfVyjayanthi Strictly Average 1st Half!
Starts off with an interesting mother-son setup and has a few engaging sequences but quickly turns into a run of the mill and template commercial film. Music/BGM is a big drawback and fails to elevate the proceedings. Needs a good 2nd half!

Majid: Second half doesn't waste anytime in songs. Focuses only on action flashback and sentiment factor.
Sohail Khan looks a decent villain but hardly used. Srikanth plays his usual character to give an expected twist.

However the film just continues the age old template and everywhere it's expected. The climax fight gets intensifies with a sacrifice which is new to Telugu Film.

Overall Film is decent enough for one time watch. It's a pure commercial action film. But I hope Kalyan Ram picks better scripts and something new like he always did unlike this one.

Usual Formula or just an extended Janata Garage concept. Works fine in places. Visuals and Music are decent though songs didn't catch on. Camera work is patchy, doesn't look great with actors close up shots.

Good to see Vijayashanthi in cop role after long time even though it's for short screen time.

Let's see how the second half goes.

P.S: Watching it on an empty theatre. Just show for me.

Tollywood Box Office: #ArjunSonOfVyjayanthi is a formulaic action film with a predictable screenplay that drags until a novel, shocking climax which works out well.

@NANDAMURIKALYAN shines, but the cliched treatment and average music make it feel ok, While action blocks appeal to mass audiences.

Telugu360: The climax lives up to the hype created by the makers. While the rest of the film features few action blocks that will appeal to the mass audience, its formulaic narration becomes a drawback. What starts off as an engaging action film gradually turns over-the-top in the second act, though the climax delivers some satisfying mass moments. Director has shown some skill in framing action shots but that's all he have. There's little here for the class audience, but it's a watchable fare for fans of action driven mass cinema. Sohail Khan's character feels like a weak link, while the lead roles - played by Kalyan Ram, Vijayashanti, and Srikanth are well-crafted and effectively portrayed. Kalyan Ram and Vijayasanthi acted good.

Overall, action film lovers can watch it once . This films target audience are general masses.

First half is a good action film 👍. It is a fast paced one and director is able to keep the proceedings exciting throughout , The characters of arjun , vyjayanthi are author backed. Story wise this is a regular action film but with good dialogues . Ajaneesh Loknath background score is okay. Kalyan Ram , Vijayasanthi and Srikanth's did well.
