AR Rahman Pokes Fun At Coldplay's Viral ‘Affair Cam’ Moment During US Tour
A.R. Rahman added a dose of humor to his Washington stop during the Wonderment Tour in the USA, playfully referencing the recent Coldplay concert controversy that has been making waves online. The Oscar-winning music maestro not only captivated the audience with his music but also had them laughing when he made a cheeky remark during a moment on stage.
While performing at the Tacoma Dome, Rahman addressed the crowd as the camera panned to fans waving on the big screen. Seizing the moment, he quipped, "I won't get you into trouble. Don't worry," a clear nod to the Coldplay incident that recently unfolded in Massachusetts. His comment was met with loud laughter and applause from the audience.

The joke referred to a moment from Coldplay's Gillette Stadium concert last week, where the band's "kiss cam" focused on Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and the company's Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot. The two were caught embracing on camera but quickly reacted with discomfort and slipped out of frame after realizing they were being filmed. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin addressed the awkward situation, saying, "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."
The clip went viral, sparking intense online speculation, criticism, and a wave of memes. Amid the backlash, Andy Byron stepped down from his CEO position at Astronomer.
The Coldplay moment even caught the attention of Indian pop culture. The Baahubali team joined the fun by posting a meme referencing the situation. Shared from Baahubali's official social media account, the meme featured Prabhas and Anushka Shetty in their "Baahubali 2" characters. In the image, Baahubali and Devasena are seen in a warm embrace, with a witty caption: "CEO and HR of Maaahishmathi," followed by a hugs emoji.
Meanwhile, Rahman's Wonderment Tour continues to draw packed audiences across North America. The tour spans several major cities in both the US and Canada and will soon head to the UK. Rahman is expected to conclude the international leg and return to India in November. The tour includes a blend of his iconic classics and newer compositions, celebrating his decades-spanning legacy in global music.
