Amid Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan Divorce Rumors, Former Miss World Says: 'We Don't Even...'

Rumors about Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's divorce have been circulating on social media for some time now. However, the couple has kept quiet on the matter. Aishwarya once delivered a sharp response to Oprah Winfrey regarding the concept of divorce in Indian culture, firmly stating, "We don't even try and entertain the thought," highlighting the deep-rooted commitment within their marriage. This conversation took place during a memorable episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2009, which shed light on the intricacies of Indian weddings and the Bachchan family's traditions.

The episode featuring Abhishek and Aishwarya not only showcased clips from their lavish wedding in Juhu, Mumbai, where fans eagerly gathered to catch a glimpse of the couple, but also explored the grandeur and extended celebrations customary to Indian nuptials. Oprah was fascinated by the elaborate festivities, which Abhishek noted could span a week to ten days, filled with morning and evening rituals. The culmination of these ceremonies is the couple taking seven vows around a sacred fire, an act known as Saptapadi, symbolising their unbreakable bond.

During the interview, Oprah inquired about the couple's living arrangements post-marriage, particularly about their choice to reside with Abhishek's family. In a playful exchange that elicited laughter from the audience, Abhishek flipped the question to Oprah, asking about her living situation with her family. Aishwarya then chimed in, expressing that living with their extended family feels natural to them. She emphasized the importance of family unity and how it's customary in their culture.

Abhishek further elaborated on their familial setup, explaining that his father, Amitabh Bachchan, also upheld the tradition of living with his parents. He proudly shared that they continue this tradition, emphasizing the significance of family meals.

According to Abhishek, his mother insists that if they're in the city, the family should share at least one meal together every day, reinforcing the bond among them.
