Alia Bhatt Says Raha’s Name Was Picked to Pair Well With a Future Brother’s

Alia Bhatt recently shared how she and Ranbir Kapoor decided on the name Raha for their daughter. Speaking on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, Alia revealed that their family had already suggested a name for a boy, and it was Ranbir's mother, Neetu Kapoor, who came up with the name Raha. She added that the name would complement a future sibling if they ever had a son.

A Name Chosen with a Future in Mind

Alia disclosed that both she and Ranbir instantly loved the name Raha. Recalling the process, she said, "Ranbir and I were eager parents, asking our family group for name suggestions for both a boy and a girl. Among multiple options, we really liked one boy name, which I won't reveal now."

She further shared how Neetu Kapoor suggested Raha's name. "My mother-in-law, Ranbir's mum, said, 'What about Raha? It will go very well with the boy's name if you ever have a son. If you have both a girl and a boy, it will be a really good combination.' She also suggested a girl-girl name combination. But the moment we heard Raha, Ranbir and I instantly loved it. We had two names ready-one for a boy and one for a girl. Raha means peace, joy, and bliss-all the things she is to us."

Alia and Ranbir tied the knot in April 2022 after dating for several years. They welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022. In December 2023, the couple delighted fans by making their first public appearance with Raha during Christmas celebrations.
