After Ranveer Allahbadia, Female Comedian Slammed For Controversial Joke On Mother

A joke by stand-up comedian Swati Sachdeva about her mother discovering a vibrator has gone viral, drawing mixed reactions on social media. The clip from her performance, which surfaced online on Saturday, has divided netizens-while some find it hilarious, others argue it crosses a line when it comes to humor about parents.

This controversy comes weeks after YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, faced massive backlash for a controversial joke about parents on Samay Raina's YouTube show India's Got Latent. Allahbadia's question-"Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?"-triggered outrage, legal complaints, and an ongoing cyber investigation.

Now, Sachdeva's joke has reignited debates over comedy, boundaries, and whether humor involving family should have limits. During her performance, she recounted an incident where her mother found her vibrator and tried to discuss it in a "friendly" manner. "My mother is trying to be a cool mom, but it's not working. She found my vibrator and confidently started talking to me 'as a friend.' She even called it a gadget, a toy. I told her, 'I swear, Mom, it belongs to Papa.' She immediately shut me down, saying, 'Don't talk nonsense; I know his choice.'"

Her joke has sparked intense criticism. One X user slammed her, calling her "shameless" for "spreading obscenity in the name of comedy." Another claimed, "Swati Sachdeva couldn't get a good job, so she started writing adult content. Now, she's earning fame by insulting her own mother."

Take a Poll

Comparisons with the India's Got Latent controversy have also emerged. A user questioned, "There has been enough scrutiny on Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia. Will she be next?" Others criticized the state of modern comedy, with one remarking, "Is this an upgrade or downgrade of comedy?" Another lamented, "What has happened to today's youth?"

Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent continues. On Friday, comedian Samay Raina appeared before Maharashtra Cyber in connection with the obscenity case linked to Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks. This was his second appearance before investigators, following an earlier statement recorded on March 24 at the agency's headquarters in Navi Mumbai.

Raina, Allahbadia, and others involved in the YouTube program are facing multiple police complaints as investigations proceed.
