Adnan Sami Dreams Of A Spontaneous Performance At Nizamuddin Dargah, Calls It A True Honour

Adnan Sami has always felt a special bond with Delhi-its people, its energy, and, of course, its food. Fresh off a spectacular performance at Bharat Mandapam, where he played to a packed hall, the singer-composer is still basking in the warmth of the city's love.

"The Delhi audience is unlike any other-warm, large-hearted, and full of passion," Sami shares. "Every time I perform here, I feel an incredible energy. It's overwhelming." Known for hits like Lift Karadey and Tera Chehra, along with Bollywood classics like Bhar Do Jholi Meri, Sami thrives on this deep connection with his fans.

Fasting and performing during Ramzan could have been exhausting. But Delhi's infectious energy kept him going. "The concert started at 8 pm, and with back-to-back shows and constant travel, rest is a luxury. But the moment I stepped on stage, the audience erupted in a massive roar! That love sent my adrenaline soaring," he recalls. Having performed live since he was young, he cherishes this exchange of energy. "I interact a lot with my audience, and they know my journey. Their love never fails to fill me with gratitude."

No trip to Delhi is complete without indulging in its legendary food, and Sami made sure to enjoy an authentic iftar feast. "I love Old Delhi's food," he says, recalling his pre-show indulgence. "There were keema kulchas, samosas, malpua-basically, all the deliciously sinful things," he laughs. He didn't stop there, adding, "I also had kebabs and, of course, Bengali Market ki chaat. You can't miss that."

Despite his many experiences in the city, one thing remains on his wishlist-singing at the revered Nizamuddin Dargah. "I've never had the chance to perform there, but it would be such an honour," he says. "I hope to do it someday-spontaneously, from the heart."

Beyond his fans, there was one person in the audience who made the night even more special-his seven-year-old daughter, Medina. "She was there, like always. Whenever I ask the audience what song I should sing next, she already knows the answer but still pretends to guess. It's the sweetest thing," he smiles.

For Sami, music, family, and the magic of Delhi create an experience that's nothing short of unforgettable.
