Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan OTT Release Date: Shanaya Kapoor’s Debut Film to Stream from Sept 5

Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay and Maheep Kapoor, has officially stepped into the acting world with her debut film, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. The romantic drama, featuring Vikrant Massey alongside Shanaya, initially had a lukewarm response in theatres. However, it is now set to reach a broader audience through an OTT release, offering viewers a chance to delve into its unique love story.

Zee5 has announced that Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan will be available for streaming from September 5, 2025. The platform shared this update on social media, sparking excitement among fans eager to see Shanaya's performance. Directed by Santosh Singh and produced by Mini Films, the movie draws inspiration from Ruskin Bond's short story The Eyes Have It.

Plot and Themes

The narrative follows Jahaan (played by Vikrant Massey), a blind musician, and Saba (portrayed by Shanaya Kapoor), an aspiring actor. Their chance meeting on a train leads to a connection based not on sight but on understanding and shared dreams. The film delves into themes of independence, resilience, and self-belief, highlighting emotional bonds over physical appearances.

Zain Khan Durrani plays a supporting role in the film. Vishal Mishra composed the soundtrack, with vocals by Mishra himself along with Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur. Critics appreciated the music but were less impressed with the overall execution of the film.

In media interactions, Shanaya Kapoor shared insights about her character Saba. She described Saba as an aspiring and fearless artist navigating her own journey. Despite its theatrical release on July 11, 2025, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan struggled at the box office with a modest net collection of approximately Rs 1.77 crore.

Future Endeavours

Following her debut, Shanaya is set to star in Bejoy Nambiar's survival thriller Tu Yaa Main alongside Adarsh Gourav. This project is backed by Anand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma. Additionally, she is reportedly taking on a double role in Karan Johar's Student of the Year 3 web series. This series will consist of six episodes directed by newcomer Reema Maya.
