Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan Box Office: Shanaya Kapoor’s Debut Off to a Disappointing Start

The film "Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan," directed by Santosh Singh, had a lacklustre opening at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk.com, it earned only ₹35 lakh on its first day. This film marks Shanaya Kapoor's Bollywood debut alongside Vikrant Massey. Despite the anticipation, the film's performance fell short of expectations.

In comparison to Vikrant Massey's previous release, "The Sabarmati Report" (2024), which opened at ₹1.25 crore, "Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan" did not fare well. The film's Hindi occupancy was merely 9.92% on Friday. Shanaya Kapoor was initially set to debut with "Bedhadak," but that project was shelved.

Film Review and Audience Reception

The Hindustan Times reviewed the film, stating, "Shanaya Kapoor makes a confident debut, even if her character (or the story) doesn't give her much to work with. Vikrant Massey, usually reliable, is decent but not at his best. His role as a visually-challenged man had the potential for nuance, but he doesn't quite land it. Zain Khan Durrani, as Shanaya's other love interest Abhinav, is adequate."

The review further added that "Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan feels like a love letter that never reached its destination. It tries to tug at your heartstrings but ends up playing out of tune. You're left wishing the film had seen its own potential more clearly — instead, it stumbles blindly in search of a spark that never quite ignites."

Production and Creative Team

"Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan" is produced by Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla and written by Niranjan Iyengar and Mansi Bagla. The music for the film has been composed by Vishal Mishra. Zee Studios and Mini Films present this romantic drama that explores emotions and connections between its lead characters.

The storyline revolves around romance and emotional ties among the main characters. Despite its promising premise, the film struggled to connect with audiences on its opening day.

The movie's underwhelming performance highlights the challenges faced by new releases in capturing audience interest amidst stiff competition in Bollywood.
