Tiruvarur: Father smashes baby's head, succumbs to injuries

Tiruvarur, Aug 2: In a fit of rage, a 25-year old man smashed his own baby's head while arguing with his wife. The accused Madhavan, married Vaishnavi after a love affair, but soon started demanding dowry.

Even though the couple recently had a baby, Vaishnavi decided to go back to her parent's house resenting her husband's incessant harassment over dowry. Madhavan went to her parent's house on Monday and had a heated argument with his wife. He took the four-month old baby forcibly and smashed it against the wall, said the police.

The infant was rushed to the Government medical college hospital Tiruvarur, where he succumb to his injuries on Monday. Madhavan was arrested and an investigation is being done.
