Will Vijay Enter TN Politics In 2026? BJP's Annamalai Says 'Democracy Is All About Choice'

Tamil Nadu BJP Chief K Annamalai on Thursday welcomed Vijay to politics a day after Thalapathy gave a hint that he might foray into politics in the 2026 Assembly polls.

Speaking to reporters, he said, "Anybody can enter politics to serve people. Aspiring politicians should present their ideology and explain what plans they have for the public so that people knows what to expect from them,"

However, he said that nobody should create obstructions for aspiring politicians. "We should not oppose anybody. People should have a choice before them. It is always better to have six parties instead of three parties. After all, democracy is all about choice," Annamalai stated.

Annamalai, who himself is new to politics, stated that the system changes with the entry of new leaders.

"If only people who have governed the state for decades persist in politics, the system becomes stagnant. You should envision politics as a river, always in motion. Allow newcomers including Vijay to venture into politics. They can offer an alternative ideology to the people, and let Tamils determine what they want," he added.

Vijay has once again given a hint at his political entry. When the anchor inquired about 2026 at 'Leo' success meet, Vijay responded with a line from his 2019 film 'Bigil': "Cup'u mukkiyam, Bigilu!" (Winning the cup is important, 'Bigil').

His 'Leo' co-star Arjun referred to Vijay's potential entry into politics at the event. "Vijay really wants to do good for the people and I am sure he will become a big leader in the future," he said.

Vijay has never shied away from expressing his views on the issues bothering the people. He has also used the stages of his film events to take digs at the people in power.
