Who Was K Armstrong & Why Was BSP Tamil Nadu Chief Hacked To Death?

The Tamil Nadu cops have arrested eight suspects in connection with the murder of BSP state president K Armstrong.

He was hacked to death by a six-member gang near his house on Friday. The police have formed 10 teams to crack the case, PTI reported citing Asra Garg, Additional Commissioner (North) told reporters. "We have secured eight suspects so far. This is early an investigation, a preliminary investigation. So after some time, a clear and better picture will emerge with more facts and circumstances coming to light," he said.

What is the motive for the murder?
Asra Garg stated that there are two or three suspicious motives. However, the exact one would come to light only after the interrogation of the suspects, he added.

Who Was K Armstrong?
The 52-year-old Armstrong was the state chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

He was a former councillor of Chennai Corporation in 2006.

He had done his law degree from Venkateswara University in Tirupati, and practiced law in the Chennai courts.

In 2011, Armstrong had unsuccessfully contested in the 2011 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

He was known for standing up for the cause of Dalits and the underprivileged.

However, he was faced allegations of abduction, but over the years, he was acquitted by the courts.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has ordered the police to investigate the "shocking" murder "expeditiously". "Bahujan Samaj Party State President Armstrong's assassination is shocking and deeply saddening. The police arrested those involved in the murder overnight. I would like to convey my deepest condolences and condolences to all of Armstrong's party, family, relatives and friends who are bereaved and I have ordered the police officers to conduct the case expeditiously and bring the culprits to justice as per the law," he said in a post on X.
