Is Thalapathy Vijay Really Taking Oath As Next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu On This Date?

Actor and TVK founder Vijay, who sprung a surprise in the Tamil Nadu elections in 2026, will take oath on Thursday, May 7, according to unconfirmed reports.

The event will be held at Nehru Indoor Stadium, the venue where the actor-turned-politician's film-related events used to held. However, the TVK has not issued a formal statement on Vijay's oath-taking ceremony.

The TVK has secured 108 seats in the 234-member assembly and short of 10 seats. Rumours in the political circle claims that the Congress might join hands with Vijay's party.

Meanwhile, a day after securing a landmark victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, TVK chief Vijay chaired a meeting of his newly elected legislators at the party headquarters on Tuesday. The gathering marked the first formal step in shaping the party's legislative strategy following its triumph with 108 seats in the 234-member House.

The atmosphere at the TVK headquarters was marked by celebration as Vijay received a spirited welcome from supporters and a new cohort of MLAs, many of whom are entering the Assembly for the first time.

Before formal deliberations began, Vijay paid floral tributes to the portraits of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, B.R. Ambedkar, K. Kamaraj, Velu Nachiyar, and Anjalai Ammal, reinforcing the ideological pillars the party championed throughout its campaign.

The primary agenda of the meeting involved the formal election of a legislature party leader and a briefing on parliamentary conduct. According to TVK leader Nanjil Sampath, the MLAs also used the opportunity to present their victory certificates to the party chief. Beyond administrative formalities, the session focused heavily on the strategic path toward government formation.

The DMK and AIADMK trailed behind with 59 and 47 seats, respectively.
