Weekend Getaway To Ooty, Kodaikanal? Don't Forget Your E-Pass & Check Weekend Weather Report

Visitors planning to drive to Ooty, Kodaikanal, and the Nilgiris region must obtain an e-pass this week. The requirement will end on June 30.

To regulate vehicle entry into these popular hill stations, the Madras High Court recently directed the district administrations to establish a system for issuing e-passes. The District Collectors of Nilgiris and Dindigul were tasked with creating an online platform for vehicles to submit their details and obtain an e-pass. Only vehicles with these passes will be permitted entry.

This directive was issued by a division bench comprising Justices N Sathish Kumar and D Bharatha Chakravarthy as part of interim orders in a case concerning the carrying capacity of the Nilgiris and Dindigul districts. Kodaikanal is located in the Dindigul district.

The rule, effective from May 7, remains in place until June 30. However, residents of the Nilgiris District with vehicles registered as "TN 43" do not require an e-pass.

So, one last time, the visitors have to book the pass.
