Ajith Pays Tribute To Vetri Duraisamy

Vetri Duraisamy, son of former Chennai City Mayor Saidai Duraisamy was travelling from Shimla to Spiti when his vehicle met with an accident on February 4.

However, his body was found after a nine-day search operation carried out by various teams, including the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) Uttarakhand, and district police officials.

During the search operation, police officials discovered traces of human brain matter near the riverside, which were collected for testing and DNA profiling to ascertain if they belonged to Vetri, which was ultimately located on Monday by a team of divers from the Mahin Nag Association, approximately 3 kilometres from the accident site.

The body was then transported to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGCMH) in Shimla for postmortem examination before being handed over to the family.

Many celebrities from the Tamil film industry have expressed condolence over the death. Actor-politician Kamal Haasan wrote, "The news of the death of Vetri Duraisamy, the son of former Chennai Mayor and friend Saidai Duraisamy, is deeply saddening. A young man, who was just beginning to live life and who was doing his work in a majestic fashion, meeting his end in such an accident is an unbearable thought. I embrace his father with a heavy heart and console him. He should recover from this pain soon,"

Actor and politician Sarath Kumar said, "The sudden demise of Vetri Duraisamy, who provided free training to innumerable students appearing for the UPSC through his Manitha Neyam Free IAS Training Centre and who managed the institute, providing support to his father is a great loss. There are no words to console Saidai Duraisamy who has lost his only son. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. I pray to the Almighty that may his soul rest in peace."

Filmmaker Cheran wrote, "Vetri, why did nature refuse to love you, who were known to love all animals and birds. Your loss and death makes me angry at all good sayings and beliefs. All consolation for your heartbroken parents, wife and children are futile. May your soul rest in peace."

Vetri Duraisamy had directed a movie called 'Endraavathu Oru Naal' in which Vidharth played the lead.
