Addressing reporters, Nachiyar said the issue was not about divorce itself but about the message being sent to society when a public figure behaves in a certain way before formally ending a marriage. She said that the TVK chief shouldn't have attended the wedding of AGS producer Kalpathi Suresh's son.

"Divorce is not wrong. Many couples separate when they cannot resolve their differences, and many people remarry after divorce. That is their personal right," she said. "But attending public functions with another woman when the marriage has not yet ended raises serious questions."

Her remarks come at a time when Vijay's personal life has become a major talking point on social media and in political circles, especially as the actor prepares to enter electoral politics through his party.

Nachiyar pointed out that Vijay's wife had not only sought divorce but had also requested residential security as part of her petition. She argued that such demands reflect deeper family concerns that should not be ignored.

"She has asked for a place to live in the house. Is that not a reasonable request? Their children are staying in hostels and separate residences. This does not reflect a stable family environment," she said.

The party leader also expressed disappointment that Vijay appeared at a public wedding ceremony with Trisha at a time when speculation about their relationship is widespread.

"In every household there are problems. Initially I wondered why we should even discuss someone's personal life. But when these issues become public and he appears on stage with another actress, people naturally begin to question it," she said.

Nachiyar further recalled that she had earlier criticised comments made by Nainar Nagendran regarding Vijay's alleged association with Trisha.

According to her, the divorce petition filed by Sangeetha was "very dignified," as it only mentioned that Vijay was allegedly involved with an actress and said the name would be revealed only if necessary.

In that context, Nachiyar questioned how Vijay's public image would be perceived, especially since he has positioned himself as someone advocating progressive ideas, including women's rights.

"If someone speaks about feminism on public stages and then behaves without dignity in personal matters, how will society view it?" she asked. "How will people see a leader who dreams of becoming Chief Minister if he appears publicly with another actress during such a sensitive phase?"

Despite her criticism, Nachiyar clarified that she has supported Vijay and his party in many political issues and controversies so far.

She also dismissed accusations that her remarks were politically motivated because of her photographs with leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"Some people may call me a sleeper cell of the BJP because I have photos with their leaders. They can think whatever they want. I am speaking only as a woman who expected better from a leader promising change," she said.
