Vijay-Sangeetha Divorce: Kicking Out Wife, Daughter & Celebrating Women's Day: Tamil Director Mocks Thalapathy

Tamil filmmaker Ameer Sultan, known for his outspoken attitude, has mocked actor and TVK chief Vijay as his party prepares to celebrate Women's Day.

"Kicking your wife and daughter out of the house and then hosting a 'Women's Day' political event is nothing but a disgusting spectacle," Ameer posted on his WhatsApp status, a message that went viral within minutes, according to reports in the Tamil Nadu.

The message further added: "A Hitler is being born in Tamil Nadu."

Ameer's comparison to the infamous dictator serves as a stinging rebuke of what he perceives as a massive gap between Vijay's public platform and his private conduct. To Ameer and a growing chorus of critics, the TVK's Women's Day celebration in Mahabalipuram, intended to be a grand stage for Vijay to announce welfare schemes and electoral promises for women is a hollow exercise in hypocrisy.

The event at a private resort in Mahabalipuram is designed to be a turning point for the TVK. Party cadres had worked tirelessly to project Vijay as the new champion of women's rights, a leader who would provide the safety and economic empowerment they felt was missing under the current regime.

The party event is expected to announce specific plans to improve women's safety and economic independence.

More importantly, the event is expected to position the TVK as a disciplined and family-oriented alternative to established parties.

However, the "disciplined" image was severely undercut by the timing of the event, which is taking place amid divorce proceedings of Vijay and Sangeetha.

The gravity of Ameer's "Hitler" comment becomes clearer when looking at the 12-page divorce petition filed by Vijay's wife, Sangeetha, at the Chengalpattu Family Court. The document paints a picture of a marriage that has "effectively ceased to exist."

What's In The Petition?

Infidelity and Betrayal: Sangeetha claims that in April 2021, she discovered Vijay was in an adulterous relationship with a prominent actress. Despite his initial assurances to end the affair, she alleges it continued without remorse.

Economic and Emotional Abuse: The petition describes a pattern of "constructive desertion." Sangeetha alleges that when she confronted him, Vijay responded by withdrawing financial support and imposing restrictions on her freedom of movement, effectively isolating her within their home.

Public Humiliation: The filing mentions the "indescribable agony" caused to Sangeetha and their children by the actress's social media posts.

It has to be noted that on Thursday Vijay and actress Trisha arrived together at the Kalpathi family wedding in a coordinated beige outfit, a move many saw as a "soft launch" of their relationship.
