Vegetable Price In Chennai: What's Cheaper, What's Costly? Find Out
Vegetable prices at s Koyambedu Wholesale Market in Chennai have seen significant fluctuations on Tuesday, with some key items witnessing a sharp rise, while others have recorded a dip.
The cost of vegetables such as green chillies, garlic, coriander, mango, cauliflower, and beans has increased, impacting consumers and vendors alike.

Mango prices, in particular, have been on an upward trend since last August. On August 31, a kilogram of mango was sold at Rs 160, but today the price has climbed to Rs 180 per kilogram.
Similarly, green chillies, which were priced at Rs 35 per kilogram last week, have seen a Rs 15 increase, now selling at Rs 50 per kilogram.
Coriander, which had remained stable for the past few months at Rs 3 per bunch, has now surged to Rs 12, reflecting a Rs 9 increase. Garlic, which saw a decrease from Rs 360 to Rs 300 per kilogram by the end of August, has also risen again, with prices currently at Rs 320 per kilogram, up by Rs 20 earlier this week.
While these items have seen a price hike, the rates of lemon, Ooty carrot, and beetroot have recorded a dip today, offering some relief to buyers.
These fluctuations in vegetable prices are typical of the seasonal and supply-demand dynamics in the market, but the recent spikes have caused concern among both consumers and vendors.
