TN CM Stalin Orders Immediate Action After Deadly Karur Crowd Crush at Vijay Rally

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has stepped in following the tragic stampede-like situation at TVK leader Vijay's campaign rally in Karur, where 29 people lost their lives and several others were injured.

In an urgent directive, CM Stalin has instructed Minister V. Senthilbalaji and State Health Minister Ma. Subramanian to personally oversee the treatment of the injured at Karur Government Hospital. Both ministers have been asked to ensure that adequate medical facilities, doctors, and emergency care are made available without delay.

CM Stalin has also sought continuous updates on the condition of those admitted and stressed that the administration must leave no stone unturned in providing the best possible care. Ambulances, additional medical teams, and necessary supplies have been mobilised to handle the situation.

Thalapathy Vijay, the leader of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, held a campaign event in Karur on Saturday night. A massive crowd gathered to see him, leading to an unexpected and severe crush. Concerns are rising that the death toll might increase.

The campaign was part of Vijay's statewide tour ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, which are just eight months away. Earlier today, he campaigned in Namakkal without any major issues. However, the situation in Karur turned dire as an overwhelming number of supporters showed up, causing a dangerous crowd surge.
