TVK's Political Debut: How BJP, AIADMK & DMK React To Vijay's Entry To Politics? First Reactions
Tamil actor Vijay on Friday formally announced his entry into politics. He has floated a new party called 'Tamilaga Vetri Kazham' (TVK).
In a statement, the actor stated that he has no plans to contest in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls but he has set his eyes on the 2026 Assembly elections. The actor stated, "We are not going to contest the 2024 elections and we are not going to any party. We have made this decision on General and Executive Council Meeting."

How Political Parties Reacted?
The ruling DMK welcomed the entry of his politics. The party spokesperson TKS Elangovan said, "See everybody has a right (to start their party) we cannot stop anybody from starting their own political party. The constitution permits that, so we cannot say anything.
The only thing is why he is starting a political party and what he is going to fight for, is a question. If he comes out about his policies and ideologies then we can accept it but as far as DMK is concerned we have an ideology we have worked for. We have been with this ideology since the start and we have done a lot of things as per it. We have made people get good education and good employment..."
AIADMK spokesperson Jayakumar said, "Politics is akin to an ocean, where some successfully reach the shore while others fail to make it to the shores. Ultimately, everything is determined by the people." However, he said that his entry will not have much impact on the AIADMK as it has a strong base.
Annamalai, the state BJP Chief, expressed happiness over Vijay's entry to politics. He said, "I am happy to congratulate and welcome brother Mr. @actorvijay who has started a new party in the name of 'Tamilaka Vetri Kazhagam' to work for the people against the corrupt politics that is exploiting the people of Tamil Nadu and for a non-partisan, honest and political change."
Tamil Nadu BJP Vice President Narayanan Thirupathy, speaking to News18, said that every Indian has the right to enter politics and the saffron party will welcome him. "Anyone in this country has got right to start a political party. It is a democratic country. I wish him the very best of luck," he stated.
On asking whether the BJP will have an alliance with his party, Narayanan Thirupathy said, "Why should I think all about it now .. he has just given a name to his party today. let him openly come and let us talk when the time comes."
When asked who would benefit and who would get affected by his entry, the BJP leader said, "I don't want to comment on this because he has the right to have his own political party. let us see how people accept..."
On asking whether he can make a real impact in politics, he said, "I don't know... how Vijay presents himself and compliments .. time has to tell. not me."
