TVK Chief Vijay Welcomes Nirmal Kumar, A Man Who Had Public Spat With BJP Chief Annamalai
The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), led by its founder-president Vijay, has announced the appointment of 17 new key office-bearers for various wings of the party, marking a significant step in its political journey.
Notable Appointments

Among the new appointees, two prominent names stand out: Adhav Arjuna, former deputy general secretary of the VCK, and C T R Nirmal Kumar, a former BJP leader who had a fallout with Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai.
Adhav Arjuna has been appointed General Secretary for Campaign Management, while Nirmal Kumar has been named Deputy General Secretary for Information Technology and Social Media.
Nirmal Kumar's political trajectory has been turbulent. In 2023, as the BJP's Tamil Nadu IT cell chief, he publicly resigned on X (formerly Twitter), accusing Annamalai of a clandestine alliance with a DMK minister. He subsequently joined the AIADMK, a key BJP ally in Tamil Nadu, before now switching to TVK.
"How can I work with a person who aggressively criticizes a minister outside while negotiating behind the scenes?" Nirmal Kumar had questioned, calling Annamalai a "#420malai", and warning that his leadership posed a threat to both the BJP and the state.
Strategic Moves Ahead of 2026 Assembly Elections
Among the other office-bearers is A Rajmohan, a popular YouTuber, who has been appointed Propaganda Secretary. All 17 appointees will report to Party General Secretary N Anand, while Adhav Arjuna will coordinate with TVK's election strategist, John Arokiyasamy.
Adhav Arjuna, known for his experience in political strategy, previously worked with an organization that claimed to have advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin. However, his tenure with the VCK ended in controversy when he allegedly attempted to create a rift between DMK and VCK, leading to a six-month suspension.
Now, with Arjuna at the helm of campaign strategy, an impression is being cultivated that TVK could emerge as a formidable political force against the DMK in the 2026 Assembly elections.
TVK's Rise and Left-Wing Leanings
Founded in February 2024, Vijay formally announced the launch of TVK with ambitions to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls. His first public rally was a massive success, attracting over 5 lakh attendees, and signaling strong grassroots support.
TVK has embraced left-wing ideological leanings, drawing from Ambedkarism, Marxism, and Periyarism. As it continues to consolidate its leadership and strategy, the party aims to position itself as a viable alternative to the DMK in Tamil Nadu politics.
