There Is Respect, Pride In Voting: Rajinikanth After Casting His Vote In Chennai

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth cast his vote on Friday at a polling booth in Chennai. The first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 began on Friday where 102 seats across the country have gone for voting.

Rajini came early in the morning, stood in a queue and cast his vote at the Poes Garden polling booth. He then appealed to the people to cast their votes.

"There is respect and pride if we say, that we have cast our vote. It is our duty and right. So please vote," the actor said after casting his vote.

The elections for all 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu are held in the first phase.

Polling commenced at 7 AM on Friday across all 39 Lok Sabha constituencies in Tamil Nadu for the 2024 general election, under stringent security measures.

Voters arrived at the polling stations with enthusiasm, patiently awaiting their turn to cast their ballots, while state and central police personnel stood vigilant.

The fate of 950 candidates will be determined by approximately 6.23 crore voters across nearly 68,000 polling stations.

Key candidates include DMK's Dayanidhi Maran (Central Chennai), A Raja (Nilgiris), and Kanimozhi (Thoothukudi), BJP's K Annamalai (Coimbatore), L Murugan (Nilgiris), and Tamilisai Soundararajan (South Chennai), former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam (Ramanathapuram), Congress party's Karti Chidambaram (Sivaganga), AIADMK's J Jayavardhan (South Chennai), and AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran (Theni).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged voters to exercise their franchise in record numbers. He especially called upon the young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers.
"The 2024 Lok Sabha elections commence today! As 102 seats across 21 States and UTs go to the polls, I urge all those voting in these seats to exercise their franchise in record numbers," he said in a post on X.

He added, "I particularly call upon the young and first-time voters to vote in large numbers. After all, every vote counts and every voice matters!" Modi made the appeal in various Indian languages.
