Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Will It Rain On Election Counting Day In Chennai & Other Districts? Find Out

The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in several areas on Monday.

A yellow alert has been issued for the following districts: Nilgiris, Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, and Tiruvannamalai.

Will it rain on the counting day on June 4?

The RMC has predicted light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

The results for the 545 Lok Sabha seats, including the 39 Lok Sabha from Tamil Nadu will be announced on Tuesday. The whole nation is looking forward for the big day as the exit polls have indicated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP is predicted to get its third term.

Most pollsters have given a clear majority for the BJP-led NDA with some giving as many as 350 seats.

What About Chennai?
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai is expected to experience partly cloudy skies. Some areas may see light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The maximum temperature is likely to be between 36-37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 27-28°C.

During the 24-hour period ending at 08:30, maximum temperatures were 2-3°C above normal in some areas of the North Interior Tamil Nadu plains, near normal across the rest of Tamil Nadu, and below normal in the Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Erode at 39.6°C. Maximum temperatures ranged from 36-40°C over the plains of Interior Tamil Nadu, 34-37°C over North Coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal area, and 31-37°C over South Coastal Tamil Nadu. In the hilly areas, maximum temperatures were between 20°C and 27°C. Chennai recorded normal maximum temperatures, with MBK at 38.4°C (-0.2°C) and NBK at 37.4°C (-0.5°C).
