Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Rains Return Amid Rising Temperature, Chennai To Get Light Shower Today
Amid soaring temperatures across Tamil Nadu, the much-awaited rains is making a comeback, bringing relief to several districts.
Districts That Are Predicted To Get Heavy Rains Today
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), heavy rains are predicted for nine districts on February 27 and twelve districts on February 28.

On Thursday, heavy rains are expected to lash Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts along with the Karaikal area. The intensity of rainfall will extend to more regions on Friday, covering Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Thanjavur, Theni, Madurai, and Dindigul districts.
However, the downpour is expected to gradually subside by Saturday, limiting heavy rains to Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Ramanathapuram, and Virudhunagar districts.
The RMC stated no significant changes in maximum temperature across the state over the past 24 hours. A marginal dip of 1-3°C was recorded in some pockets. The maximum temperatures ranged from 32-37°C in interior areas and 29-35°C along the coastal belt of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Isolated pockets experienced a rise of 2°C above normal, while other regions recorded temperatures close to or below normal levels.

Will Chennai Get Rains Today?
In Chennai, the maximum temperature is likely to hover between 33-34°C, with the minimum temperature settling around 24-25°C. The city will experience partly cloudy skies with light rainfall expected in some areas, offering slight respite from the prevailing heat.
