Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Rains Batter 11 Districts, Avalanche Tops With 20 CM
Eleven locations in Tamil Nadu experienced heavy rains on Wednesday, with Avalanche in The Nilgiris recording the highest rainfall at 20 cm.
Following Avalanche, Chinnakalar in Coimbatore district received 15 cm of rain, while Emerald in The Nilgiris and Valparai PTO in Coimbatore both received 12 cm. Valparai PAP in Coimbatore, Upper Bhavani in The Nilgiris, and Valparai Taluk Office in Coimbatore each recorded 11 cm of rainfall. Sholayar and Cincona in Coimbatore both received 10 cm of rain, along with the Taluk Office in Pandalur in The Nilgiris, as per the daily weather bulletin released by the Regional Meteorological Centre.

"Another day of massive rains in Wayanad and Nilgiris. Infact the best day for Wayanad. The inflow into Kabini jumps to 43000 cusecs and Nugu dam 5000 cusecs. Water letout from Kabini is 47000 cusecs and Nugu is 5000 cusecs and both will come to Mettur Dam.Totally 52000 cusecs being released. Friday and Saturday, the mettur inflow will jump even higher. Today too massive rains are expected in catchment areas," wrote weather blogger R Pradeep John.

However, the RMC has predicted heavy rains for today in Kanyakumari, Ghat areas of Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi & Tirunelveli districts.
"Light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain at one or two places is likely to occur over Nilgiris district. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore district. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kanyakumari, Ghat areas of Tiruppur, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi & Tirunelveli districts," the statement said.

As far as Chennai weather is concerned, the weather agency has predicted light to moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33-34°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be 27-28°C.
