Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heavy Downpour Lash Chennai; More Expected In Parts Of City
Heavy rains drenched several areas of Chennai on Wednesday evening, with Zone 15 Sholinganallur (district Chennai) recording the highest rainfall.
North Chennai received 7 cm of rainfall, followed by 6 cm at Tirumayam (district Pudukkottai), Zone 09 Teynampet (district Chennai), Avadi (district Tiruvallur), and Ayanavaram Taluk Office (district Chennai).

Zone 10 Kodambakkam (district Chennai), Zone 08 Malar Colony (district Chennai), Koratur (district Tiruvallur), Zone 07 Ambattur (district Chennai), Zone 05 GCC (district Chennai), Tiruttani (district Tiruvallur), DGP Office (district Chennai), Zone 08 Anna Nagar (district Chennai), VIT_Chennai AWS (district Chengalpattu), Satyabama Uty ARG (district Kancheepuram), Zone 06 T.V.K Nagar (district Chennai), and Zone 07 U18 D81 Vanagaram (district Chennai) received 5 cm of rainfall, according to the Regional Meteorological Department.
The weather agency forecasted light to moderate rain at a few places with thunderstorms and lightning likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal areas. "Heavy rain is expected at isolated places over Nilgiris & Ghat areas of Coimbatore districts," the statement mentioned.
As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the IMD predicted partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in some areas on Thursday. The maximum temperature is forecasted to be around 36-37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to hover between 25-26°C.
