Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Heatwave To Peak From May 1: These Districts To Sizzle
A heatwave is forecasted to reach its peak from May 1 to 4 in North interior Tamil Nadu.
Weather blogger Pradeep John (PJ), who shares update on his social media account called Tamil Nadu Weatherman, has predicted that the heatwave will reach its peak in the state, particularly affecting areas like Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, Kanchepuram, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Trichy, Karur, Kallakuruchi, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, and Tirupattur from May 1 to 4.

"Fortunately, during the same period, there are predictions for rain in the north interior regions, including Salem, Erode, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and others, starting around May 4 or 5," he wrote on his Facebook account.
Several districts in the state have been affected by heatwave. Consistently, over nine districts have recorded over 40.0°C temperature in the state. In its Saturday bulletin, the Regional Meteorological Department said that the highest maximum temperature was registered at Erode 42.0°C (+3.6°C).
"Eight stations, other than Erode recorded maximum temperature above 40°C. Tirupattur: 41.6°C (+3.8°C), Salem: 41.5°C (+3.8°C), Karur Paramathi: 41.0°C (+3.9°C), Dharmapuri: 41.0°C (+3.9°C), Tiruttani: 40.4°C (+1.5°C), Vellore: 40.3°C (+1.5°C). Trichy: 40.1°C (+1.9°C), Namakkal: 40.0°C," the RMD said.
In the remaining parts of Interior Tamil Nadu, temperatures ranged between 38-40°C. Coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal experienced temperatures ranging from 34°C to 38°C, while hilly areas saw temperatures between 22°C to 31°C. Chennai recorded typical maximum temperatures (MBK: 36.7°C, no change, and NBK: 35.4°C, a decrease of 0.2°C).
"Heat wave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated pockets over North Interior Tamil Nadu. Due to humid air & high temperatures, hot & discomfort weather is very likely to prevail at isolated pockets over rest of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area," the statement said.
The RMD also has forecast dry weather for the next four days in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
According to RMD, the sky condition in Chennai is expected to be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature is anticipated to range between 36-37°C, while the minimum temperature is forecasted to be around 27-28°C.
