Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Expect Rains In Chennai & These Districts Till Tuesday
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued orange and yellow weather alerts for several districts in Tamil Nadu this weekend.
For Saturday, an orange alert has been issued for Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts, indicating extremely adverse weather that could impact transportation by rail, road, and air.

In addition, a yellow alert has been declared for the districts of Nilgiris, the hilly areas of Coimbatore, Erode, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Vellore, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Kallakurichi. A yellow alert signifies adverse weather conditions that could potentially worsen, leading to disruptions in daily life.
Looking ahead to Monday, a yellow alert will be in place for the Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, as well as Nilgiris, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Perambalur, and Tirupattur districts. On Tuesday, the districts of Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirapalli, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, and the Karaikal area will be on yellow alert.
For Chennai, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy with moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 33-34°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to range from 25-26°C over the next two days.
Madurai recorded the highest maximum temperature on Friday at 36.6°C, while Erode saw the lowest minimum temperature at 18.5°C. Kalasapakkam in Tiruvannamalai district received the heaviest rainfall at 17 cm, followed by Arantangi in Pudukkottai district with 10 cm.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay updated on the weather and take necessary precautions as the alerts indicate potential disruptions.
