Tamil Nadu Weather Update: Erode Hottest at 40°C, Ooty Coldest At 22.4°C
The temperature across Tamil Nadu has experienced a decline, with Erode recording the highest at 40.0°C and Ooty, known as a tourist paradise, registering the lowest at 22.4°C in the past 24 hours, according to data from the Meteorological Department.
During the 24-hour period ending at 08:30 today, maximum temperatures in Tamil Nadu were generally normal in many places and normal along the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Erode at 40.0°C (+1.6°C). The plains of the rest of Interior Tamil Nadu recorded temperatures between 36-39°C. The coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal recorded temperatures between 34°C to 37°C, while the hilly areas experienced temperatures between 22°C to 29°C, the IMD said.
Chennai recorded a normal maximum temperature, with the Meenambakkam Observatory at 37.4°C (-1.0°C) and the Nungambakkam Observatory at 35.4°C (-2.0°C).
It has to be noted that till days ago over 10 districts used to record over 40.0°C. As far as the Ooty weather is concerned, the temperature remained at 22.4°C.
According to the Regional Meteorological Department (RMD), the sky condition in Chennai is expected to be partly cloudy. There's a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in certain areas. The maximum temperature is anticipated to range between 35-36°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to be around 29-30°C today.
The weather-monitoring agency has forecast light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph, for a few places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal area. Notably, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts.
The rains in the last few days have brough relief to the people from the heatwave in the state.
