Following rains, the sweltering heat in most parts of Tamil Nadu has significantly decreased.
Mylaudy in Kanniyakumari district recorded the highest rainfall with 7 centimetres. This was followed by Thiruchendur in Thoothukudi district, Valparai PTO in Coimbatore, and Nannilam in Thiruvarur district, each receiving 6 centimetres of rain in the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 am today, according to the Regional Meteorological Department (RMD).

Over the 24-hour period, maximum temperatures across many parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal area remained generally below normal, with some areas experiencing markedly below-normal temperatures.
The highest maximum temperature, reaching 35.8°C, was recorded in Erode. In North Interior Tamil Nadu, maximum temperatures ranged between 32°C and 36°C, while in South Interior Tamil Nadu, they ranged from 32°C to 33°C. Coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal saw temperatures between 29°C and 32°C, while hilly areas experienced temperatures between 19°C and 26°C.
Chennai recorded markedly below normal maximum temperatures, with MBK (Markedly Below Normal) at 28.1°C, marking a deviation of -10.3°C, and NBK (Normal Below Normal) at 29.3°C, indicating a deviation of -8.1°C.

Sunday: Madurai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Pudukkottai, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Tiruppur districts are expected to receive heavy rains.
Monday: Heavy rain is forecast for isolated places over Madurai, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, Cuddalore, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirappalli, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur districts, and the Karaikal area.
Tuesday: Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Kanyakumari, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruchirappalli, Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Villupuram, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, and Dindigul districts, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal areas.
Chennai Weather
As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the sky condition in Tamil Nadu is likely to be generally cloudy. There is a possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in some areas. The maximum temperature is expected to range between 32°C and 33°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to be between 26°C and 27°C, the RMD stated.
Several parts of the capital have been getting rains for the last two days, giving respite to the people from heat.
