Tamil Nadu Weather: Expect Cooler Temperature For A Week As Rains Are Set To Lash Parts Of TN

Tamil Nadu Weather: Parts of Tamil Nadu witnessed heavy rains on Friday evening, giving relief from the intense heat.

Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Tirunveli, Tenkasi, Theni, Dindigul, and Tirupur witnessed rains. The temperature is predicted to reduce gradually in the next one week due to rains, weather blogger R Pradeep John of Tamil Nadu Weather Man blog said.

The rains are predicted in the KTCC region (Kanchipuram, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu) today.

"Kathri Veyil period is starting from tomorrow but the rains which is happening in many places of interior Tamil Nadu will keep temperature in check. Unlike last April in 2024, this April in 2025 was very good one for Tamil Nadu with rains happening periodically. Vellore region with close proximity to Andhra will be continue to be around 39-40 C which is normal for the region. Rains will also keep happening there," he said in post.

However, the temperatures in Vellore, Karur, Erode and Madurai belt will be around 39/40°C and Chennai interiors (Meenambakkam) will be around 37-38°C. Specifically, Karur and Vellore are predicted to cross 40°C, which is normal at this time. Last year around this time, it had touched 44°C.

He noted that the north interior (Vellore, Tirupattur, Dharmapuri, Krishangiri) and West Tamil Nadu (Coimbatore, Erode, Nilgiris, Dindigul and Tiruppur belt) have all chances of thunderstorms with gust and short high intense spells.

The blogger has said that Bengaluru too will get rains and the RCB vs CSK match might be impacted.

"Bangalore chances of rains are very very high. the drainage of chinnaswamy stadium is very good. Chennai next 24 hrs there is rare chance of rains in some parts of the city. But it is purely hit or miss one," he added.

Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted heavy rains at isolated places over Nilgiris, Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts and Karaikal area on May 6.
