Tamil Nadu Weather: Chennai, Other Cities Brace For Light To Moderate Rain In Next 48 Hours
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) on Sunday predicted light to moderate rain in a few places with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next few days.
The weather-monitoring agency has forecast heavy rain for Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Tirupattur districts of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on Sunday.
As far as Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai is concerned, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur in some areas for the next 48 hours, the RMC said.

"Maximum temperature is likely to be 34-35 °C and minimum temperature is likely to be 25-26 °C," the statement added.
According to a weather blogger, Thunderstorm formation started early today near Vellore and Tirupati due to which Chennai might get showers later on Sunday.
As of Saturday, the southern peninsular India faces a 16% deficit rainfall. TN has recorded 177mm since June 1, which is around 10% deficit. However, break monsoon period seemed to work in the city's favour. Nungambakkam observatory has recorded 467.9mm since June 1, which is 172.7mm excess.
The station has registered 57cm of the annual 140cm. Meenambakkam station has recorded 656.7mm during the same period, which is 328.1mm excess. The station, which covers southern suburbs, has registered 80cm of the annual 138cm.
The RMC in its daily report also stated that Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Salem, Thirupattur, Trichy, Nilgiris and Vellore districts recorded maximum temperature on Saturday.
