Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: 9 Districts On Yellow Alert Today; Will Chennai Get Heavy Rains?
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow alert for nine districts in Tamil Nadu for Wednesday due to the likelihood of heavy rain.
Which Are The Districts On Yellow Alert?
In its daily bulletin, the RMC stated that isolated places over the Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, and Tiruchirapalli districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall.

The weather agency has also extended the yellow alert to 18 districts for Thursday, including Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Tiruchirapalli, Tiruvannamalai, Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Tiruvallur, and Kancheepuram.
For Friday, 16 districts, such as Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Kallakurichi, Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, and Tirupattur, will be under a yellow alert as well.
The forecast continues for Saturday, with heavy rain expected in Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, and Tiruchirapalli districts.
A yellow alert is issued when rainfall is expected to range between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm, indicating worsening weather conditions.

For Chennai, the RMC predicts a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rain in some areas for the next two days. The city is expected to have a maximum temperature of around 36°C and a minimum of 27-28°C.
Meanwhile, Uppar Dam in Tiruppur district and Tiruppur IB PWD recorded 7 cm of rainfall, indicating significant rain in the region.
