Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: 7 Dists Today, 10 Tomorrow To Get Heavy Rains
Parts of Tamil Nadu will get heavy rain today and tomorrow, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai.
Districts On Yellow Alert

The weather agency has issued a yellow alert to seven districts today - Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram-are under a yellow alert, indicating the likelihood of severe weather conditions that could disrupt daily life
Tomorrow, the alert will extend to ten more districts, including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, and Kanyakumari.
A yellow alert serves as a warning for adverse weather, with the potential for conditions to worsen. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay cautious and prepare for possible disruptions.
Temperature Trends Across the State
Maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal have remained largely normal. "maximum temperatures were generally normal at most places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry & Karaikal area and above normal by around 3°C at isolated places over Tamil Nadu. They were in the range 34-37°C over the plains of Interior Tamilnadu and 32- 36°C over the coastal areas of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area," the RMC said in its daily bulletin.
Over the next three days (March 21 to 23, 2025), no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected, though a slight drop may occur in a few areas. However, from March 24 to 25, temperatures are predicted to rise gradually by 2°C in some pockets. On March 21, isolated regions in Tamil Nadu may experience maximum temperatures 2-3°C above normal.
Chennai Weather
As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the mercury is expected to hover between 34°C and 35°C for the next two days. However, weather bloggers have forecast a rise in temperatures starting Monday, March 24. Hence, Chennaities can get ready for hotter days ahead.
