Tamil Nadu SSLC Results Update: Results To Be Declared Earlier Than Expected Date

The results of the Class 12 (Plus-2) public examinations in Tamil Nadu, initially scheduled for release on May 9, were declared a day early on May 8. This early release had raised expectations that the Class 10 (SSLC) results might also be announced ahead of the originally announced date of May 19 (Monday).

Well, the board has decided to announce the SSLC and Class 11 exam results on May 16. In the morning, the class 10 results will be declared, while the +1 results will be out in the afternoon.

This year, more than 9.13 lakh students appeared for the SSLC examinations held between March 28 and April 15, across 4,113 centres statewide. Among the candidates were 4,46,471 boys, 4,40,499 girls, and 12,487 private candidates.

The exams covered subjects from Language, English, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, and Optional Language. Practical examinations were conducted in February at the respective schools.

Following the exams, students' answer sheets were transported to 118 zonal collection centres and subsequently moved to correction centres from April 17. Evaluation took place from April 21 to 30, and the process of uploading marks is currently underway.

As per the reports, the School Education Department had a meeting was held yesterday between department officials and School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi to discuss the possibility of an early result declaration.

In previous years, the SSLC results were declared on May 10 (2024) and May 19 (2023). Last year's pass percentage stood at 91.55%, showing a marginal improvement from the previous year.

Meanwhile, the reopening of schools across Tamil Nadu, originally scheduled for June 2, may be postponed as the state continues to face an intense heatwave. Authorities have indicated that the decision will depend on prevailing weather conditions closer to the reopening date.

For students in Classes 6 to 9, the Education Department announced the start of summer holidays from April 25, right after the conclusion of their final examinations. Teachers involved in paper evaluation and result processing are expected to wrap up their duties by April 30, marking the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
