Tamil Nadu SSLC Results Out: 8.17 Lakh Students Pass; Girls Outperform Boys In Class 10

A total of 8,17,261 students have passed the SSLC exam in Tamil Nadu in 2025. As always, girls have outperformed boys.

The results of the Class 10 public examinations (2025) were announced on Friday at 9 AM by Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh. This year, the overall pass percentage stands at 93.80%.

A total of 9,13,036 students appeared for the exams held from March 28 to April 15, this year. Out of which 4,46,411 were boys and 4,40,465 girls. Also, 25,888 were private candidates, and 272 were prisoners. Notably, 15,652 students were absent.

Girls Outperform Boys

Female students recorded a higher pass rate, with 95.88% (4,17,183 students) passing, compared to 91.74% (4,00,078 students) among boys - a 4.14% increase in the success rate of girls.

District Topper

District-wise, Sivagangai emerged as the top-performing district with an impressive pass percentage of 98.31 per cent. Virudhunagar secured the second position with 97.45 per cent, followed by Thoothukudi at 96.76 per cent, Kanniyakumari at 96.66 per cent, and Trichy at 96.61 per cent.

Subject-Wise Highlights

Tamil: 98.09% pass rate; 8 students scored a perfect 100/100

English: 99.46% pass rate; 346 students passed

Mathematics: 96.57% pass rate; 1,996 students passed

Science: 97.90% pass rate; 10,838 students passed

Social Science: 98.49% pass rate; 10,256 students passed

The subject-wise performance reveals a significant number of students achieving full marks across various disciplines. An impressive 10,838 students secured a perfect score of 100 in Science, closely followed by 10,256 students in Social Science. In Mathematics, 1,996 students achieved centum, while English saw 346 students scoring full marks. Tamil recorded 8 students achieving a perfect score.

Govt Schools Vs Private Schools Performance

A remarkable feat was achieved by 4,917 schools across the state, where all students who appeared for the examination have passed. Notably, this includes 1,867 government schools that recorded a 100 per cent pass rate.

Analyzing the performance based on school management, private schools registered the highest pass percentage at 97.99 per cent. Government-aided schools followed with a pass percentage of 93.63 per cent, while government schools recorded a commendable pass percentage of 91.26 per cent.
