Tamil Nadu Rains: Schools Closed In Kallakurichi, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Vellore And Other Districts
After a brief respite, heavy rainfall has returned to Tamil Nadu. Due to continuous downpours since Sunday in the northern districts, several districts have declared a holiday for both schools and colleges today, January 8, 2024.
District administrations have announced a holiday in Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai, Thiruvarur, and Cuddalore, while schools alone have been closed in Thiruvannamalai, Ariyalur, Kallakurichi, Vellore, and Ranipet districts.

Chengalpattu and Ariyalur districts, altering their earlier decision, have called for a school-only holiday today. Additionally, both schools and colleges are shut in two Taluks of Nagapattinam, including Nagapattinam and Kilvelur. Despite rainfall in Chennai, Kanchipuram, and Thiruvallur, no holidays have been announced, and schools and colleges in these districts will operate as usual today.
