Tamil Nadu Rains: Chennai Wakes Up To Pleasant Weather, Light To Moderate Rain Expected Across TN

Chennai residents woke up to delightful weather on Thursday, courtesy of late evening rains gracing the Tamil Nadu capital.

The typically sweltering conditions gave way to a refreshing morning breeze. Netizens are joyfully sharing images of double rainbows gracing the sky.

The good news is that the rains will continue to rain for the next three hours. The Regional Meteorological Department (RMD) has forecasted the likelihood of moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and moderate rainfall.

Last evening's rainfall has primarily affected isolated areas across several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Thiruvallur, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Viluppuram, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Thiruchirapalli, as well as Pudukottai, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Consequently, waterlogging has been reported in certain regions, alongside slippery roads and minor damage to loosely secured structures. Additionally, traffic disruptions are anticipated in select areas.

The RMD predicts partly cloudy skies over Chennai. There is a chance of light rain with thunderstorms and lightning in specific areas. The maximum temperature is expected to reach approximately 36°C, with a minimum temperature ranging between 28-29°C.

According to the RMD forecast, widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, with speeds reaching 40-50 kmph in isolated areas, is expected across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Also, heavy rainfall is anticipated at isolated locations in Dindigul, Theni, Sivaganga, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Ramanathapuram districts.
