Tamil Nadu Polls 2026: Vijay Reveals Rs 645 Crore Assets, Rs 266 Crore in Banks; Know All His Declaration

Actor-turned-politician Vijay has declared assets worth Rs 645 crore, including two estates in Kodaikanal, substantial bank deposits, and a recently purchased TVS XL moped worth Rs 67,000, even as his party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) cancelled part of his Chennai campaign after a major crowd-control and security scare during his maiden election roadshow.

Massive Asset Declaration Highlights Vijay's Wealth

According to the details shared, Vijay has declared total assets of Rs 645 crore. His disclosures include two estates in Kodaikanal, making them among the most notable immovable assets in his portfolio.

His financial holdings also include significant deposits across banks. Vijay has reportedly declared Rs 213 crore in deposits at Indian Overseas Bank and another Rs 53 crore in Axis Bank.

In a detail that drew attention, Vijay also listed a TVS XL moped, which he bought last year for Rs 67,000.

Educational Background and Family Loans Mentioned in Disclosure

Vijay's affidavit details also mention his educational background. He studied up to 12th standard through private study and is listed as a BSc Visual Communication dropout.

The filing also includes loans extended to family members. Vijay has stated that he gave Rs 8 lakh as a loan to his son and Rs 4 lakh to his daughter.

TVK Alleges Security Failure During Vijay's Maiden Chennai Campaign

The asset declaration came on a dramatic day for TVK after the party raised alarm over what it described as a serious security lapse during Vijay's first election roadshow in Chennai on Monday.

Vijay launched his campaign in north Chennai, beginning from Perambur, but the planned route towards Kolathur turned into a prolonged and chaotic journey. What was expected to be a short campaign stretch reportedly took nearly two hours, as huge crowds packed the roads, climbed onto elevated spots for a glimpse of the actor-politician, and caused traffic bottlenecks across the area.

Major junctions including Moolakadai and Thiru Vi Ka Nagar witnessed heavy congestion, adding to the disruption.

Complaint Sent to Election Commission, Villivakkam Campaign Cancelled

In a formal complaint addressed to Chief Electoral Officer Archana Patnaik, TVK joint general secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar accused authorities of failing to ensure proper traffic regulation despite prior permission for the roadshow.

The party said the lack of crowd and traffic management created a dangerous situation for both the public and Vijay's campaign convoy. TVK urged the Election Commission to intervene immediately, make proper security arrangements for future campaign events, and initiate action against officials allegedly responsible for the lapse.

Following the disorder, Vijay's scheduled campaign programme in Villivakkam was cancelled.

At Kodungaiyur, the first halt of the roadshow, Vijay addressed supporters and said, "I have begun my campaign from my mother's home, with her blessings, from our own doorstep''.
