Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Inaugurates Glass Fiber Bridge Connecting Vivekananda Rock To Thiruvalluvar Statue

A glass bridge, measuring 77 meters in length and 10 meters in width, now links the Vivekananda Rock Memorial to the 133-feet-high Thiruvalluvar statue. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated this unique structure on Monday evening, 30 December. This bridge, the first of its kind in India, offers stunning views of both monuments and the surrounding sea.

The project cost Rs 37 crore and was executed by the Tamil Nadu state government. It coincides with the silver jubilee of the Thiruvalluvar statue's unveiling by former CM M Karunanidhi. The bridge's bowstring arch design ensures it withstands the corrosive effects of the salty breeze, promising durability and safety for visitors.

Inauguration Ceremony Highlights

During the inauguration, CM Stalin was joined by Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, MP Kanimozhi, state ministers, and senior officials. Following the ceremony, these dignitaries walked across the bridge, admiring its innovative design and breathtaking views. A laser light show at the Thiruvalluvar statue added to the event's grandeur.

The glass bridge is anticipated to become a major attraction in Kanyakumari. "It provides a thrilling experience of walking above the sea," commented a tourist official. The bridge not only enhances tourism but also celebrates two revered figures in Indian history.
