TVK Cabinet List 2026: Tamil superstar and TVK leader Joseph C Vijay became 17th Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Sunday morning, heading a new TVK-led government after securing majority backing in the 234-member Assembly. The oath ceremony took place at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai at 10 am.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leaders who have entered the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2026 are waiting for ministerial portfolios. The party, founded by Vijay, has MLAs from diverse careers, including civil services, sports and media. The list of Ministers is still incomplete, and officials say more names will be released later.

Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has appointed C Joseph Vijay as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister after TVK reached the required strength with support from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK and IUML. The Governor has directed Vijay to demonstrate his majority on the floor by 13 May.

TVK has attained 120 seats in the Assembly, giving the party and its allies a clear edge in the 234-member House. At least nine MLAs are expected to be sworn in alongside C Joseph Vijay as ministers in the first council of ministers of the new administration.

According to a press note from Lok Bhavan, Tamil Nadu, dated 10 May 2026, C Joseph Vijay submitted names for nine ministerial positions on 9 May 2026. The Governor accepted the entire list, clearing the way for the cabinet to assume charge with the Chief Minister at Sunday’s swearing-in.

The first batch of Tamil Nadu cabinet ministers under C Joseph Vijay is expected to take oath together at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The initial line-up includes figures drawn from the successful TVK team in the Assembly elections.

With the Governor’s approval for the cabinet and a clear instruction to prove numbers by 13 May, C Joseph Vijay now moves from government formation talks to formal responsibilities as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, beginning with the pledge-taking event in Chennai.

Among the most experienced is K.A. Sengottaiyan, chief coordinator of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), who secured Gobichettipalayam by 16,620 votes. Sengottaiyan has now won this seat eight times and earlier represented the former Sathyamangalam constituency once. The long-time AIADMK leader left that party in November 2025, resigned his Assembly seat and then joined TVK.

'Bussy’ N. Anand, general secretary of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is another key organiser close to C. Joseph Vijay. Anand now represents Theagaraya Nagar (T. Nagar) in Chennai. The 61-year-old MLA-elect earlier served as MLA in the Puducherry Assembly, where Anand won the Bussy constituency in 2006 for the Puducherry Munnetra Congress.

Before entering Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), 'Bussy’ N. Anand led welfare work through the Vijay Rasigar Mandram in Puducherry. Anand also previously worked with party founder P. Kannan, a former Speaker of the Union Territory, when the Puducherry Munnetra Congress was active. Anand’s organisational background is expected to be important once portfolios are assigned.

Former Indian Revenue Service officer K.G. Arunraaj is another new MLA of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), from the Tiruchengodu constituency. Arunraaj, a doctor-turned-civil servant, recently took voluntary retirement. Arunraaj had served in the Income Tax Department in Tamil Nadu, Bihar and Maharashtra, and is now the party’s general secretary for propaganda and policy.

Party treasurer P. Venkataramanan of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won the 2026 election from Mylapore. Venkataramanan has long worked with C. Joseph Vijay in professional roles before Vijay’s open entry into politics. The treasurer’s administrative experience within the organisation is seen as useful while the leadership plans Cabinet responsibilities.

Aadhav Arjuna, who manages election campaigns for Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) as general secretary, captured the Villivakkam seat. Arjuna is also president of the Basketball Federation of India. During the campaign, Arjuna faced criticism after a social media post, later deleted, spoke of possible youth uprisings in Tamil Nadu like those in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

Another recent entrant to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, now MLA from Thirupparankundram. Kumar joined TVK early in 2025. Kumar had earlier been with the BJP from 2009, heading its Tamil Nadu IT and social media unit, before moving to the AIADMK in March 2023, alleging issues with BJP State president K. Annamalai.

Media figure and YouTuber A. Rajmohan represents Egmore in the new Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) line-up. Dentist Dr. T.K. Prabhu, according to the Election Commission affidavit, won from Karaikudi. First-time candidate S. Keerthana, holding an M.Sc in statistics, defeated the sitting Congress MLA in Sivakasi by more than 11,000 votes during the 2026 polls.

The emerging Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) team in the Assembly blends veteran politicians, professionals and young first-time MLAs. Portfolios for these members are yet to be declared, and officials have indicated that the list of Ministers will be updated as further announcements are made by the Tamil Nadu Government.
