Tamil Filmmaker Lingusamy Attacked For Praising TN Govt As Chennai Struggles With Waterlogging
Tamil filmmaker N Lingusamy has come under attack from netizens after he praised the Tamil Nadu government for its "good work" as Chennai city grapples with stagnant water due to heavy rains caused by the recent cyclone.
On Wednesday, the filmmaker, on X, wrote, "Was in Thanjavur for the last three days, with no flights to reach here, was getting anxious on seeing the situation on #Chennairains. When I returned back last night, I was about to drop someone in Adyar. all the way from airport to adyar & back to Valasaravakkam could see & hear how good the work was done by TN govt, officials, @chennaicorp, workers, volunteers & also the people. Having experienced the 2015 floods first hand will say this was an improvement in the right direction.

Having said that there is still lots of works to be done on rescuing so many people from low lying areas & water stagnant places. Hoping the government will speed up the process too & Get back the city back soon. Would love to help city officials in whichever way I could on this."
His tweet appreciating the government did not go well with the netizens who questioned whether he had entered the interior regions to understand the real situation of the city.
A purported video of a man questioning him over his tweet has also gone viral. In the clip, the filmmaker is asking how he put out the tweet without visiting the affected regions.
"Height of Hypocrisy..these filmdom personnel bad mouth good people and good mouth bad people..it's a curse asking for their opinions..their business has to go on undeterred..survival instincts," a user slammed the filmmaker.
The second user said, "Pls get into interior areas nd see sir how we are suffering without power nd food...then u can take time to appreciate govt."
Another person mocked him saying that he might get opportunity to make a sequel for his flop movie 'Anjaan'. "Great sir. Looks like you are in talks with Red Giant movies or Sun Pictures for your next film. Before that please visit Velachery, Madipakkam, Thoraipakkam etc.," the netizen commented.
The fourth user said, "I dono why you are praising so much..!! No matter what one day u will have same pain like how we suffered and helpless for last 2 days."
